Le Centre Alberto Benveniste a été partie prenante, pour l’EPHE, en 2008-2009, du projet européen Euro-Festival (Art Festivals and the European Public Culture), lequel, outre l’EPHE, associait l’Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences, Vienne, l’Université du Sussex et la Fondazione di Ricerca Istituto Carlo Cattaneo (Grant agreement n° 215747, 7e PRCD de l’Union Européenne).
The Alberto Benveniste Center of the EPHE is a member of the consortium of the Euro-Festival project – Art Festivals and the European Public Culture – .
This project is one of the first projects launched – in 2008 – under the social science theme of the Seventh Framework Programme of the European Communities (Grant agreement n° 215747). It is carried out by a team of four research institutes in Austria (Interdisciplinary Centre for Comparative Research in the Social Sciences, Vienna), the UK (University of Sussex), Italy (Fondazione di Ricerca Istituto Carlo Cattaneo) – and France (Alberto Benveniste Center, EPHE).
The overall aim of the project is to analyze the way in which mixed – or single – arts festivals constitute sites of cultural expression and performance of relevance for European identity-in-the-making and for the European public sphere.
